The purpose of the buttons we use is to give you a quick overview of the features and the origin of the product. The buttons are nonofficial except for the “Spiel gut” one. They are only meant to give you a quick orientation.
The information shared is based on the manufacturers’ product descriptions regarding country of origin, raw materials etc.

The ecological and social subject matters however are covered in a special supply chain certificate like for example GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
"organic wool": (organic sheep wool / sheep wool from controlled organic animal husbandry)
Products marked with this button contain sheep wool from sheep that are kept in species-appropriate husbandry. No pesticides or mast aids were used furthermore mulesing is prohibited. However the term “kbT” (controlled organic animal husbandry) does not include any information about the cotton’s further processing nor does it provide information about the working conditions in the country where its produced.

"social":
Products marked with this button were manufactured in non-profit organizations or workshops. The manufacturer can either be the sponsor of the organization or may only cooperate with them.
"nature":
Wooden products marked with this button were either treated with oil, were waxed or colored with water colours.
"Made in Germany":
Products marked with this button were either completely produced or finished in Germany
"Made in Europe":
Products marked with this button were produced in an European country
"Naturkosmetik":
Cosmetic products with this button have been certified by organizations (like the BDIH or by Cosmos Organic www.cosmos-standard.org)
The BDIH (Federal Association of Industrial and Trading Companies for medical products, health products, dietary supplements and cosmetics) awards this seal since 2001 (www.bdih.de)

Books marked with this button are characterized by an environmental friendly and resource-saving production. The various publishers set the following priorities:
Vegetable oil-based colors, water-based varnished, material, e.g. eco-friendly cardboard, recycled content, FSC paper, solvent-free adhesives, cradle-to-cradle principle, production in Germany/ Europe
