The traditional German company Käthe Kruse opened her first factory in Berlin in 1911. It started in 1905 when Käthe Kruse tried to make a doll for her daughter out of a towel, sand and a potato.

Today, the company still follows its founder's vision by producing handmade dolls. The Käthe Kruse company has held the Waldorf license for 25 years.
